  • Investigation on the Current Protection Situation for Hematology Department Nurses against Antitumor Drugs Exposure during Chemotherapy

    目的 了解血液科护士在对患者抗肿瘤药物治疗护理过程中的防护现状。 方法 2009年12月-2010年3月对血液科一、二病区和骨髓移植层流病房的护理人员,采用便利抽样方式进行问卷调查。 结果 血液科化学疗法防护现状与国际水平有差距,护理人员虽有一定的防护意识,但仍较薄弱。 结论 加强护理人员化学治疗药物毒性及防护知识的教育,提高防范意识,并制定严格的防护措施及管理制度是确保护理人员职业安全的根本与途径。

  • Sunscreen/ultraviolet protection and non-Hodgkin lymphoma: a Mendelian randomization study

    Objective To analyze the potential causal relationship between sunscreen/ultraviolet protection and the risk of non-Hodgkin lymphoma using a two sample Mendelian randomization (MR) study method. Methods The summary data of genome-wide association study was used to select three types of non-Hodgkin lymphoma, namely diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL), follicular lymphoma, T/NK cell lymphoma, and sunscreen/ultraviolet protection highly correlated genetic loci, namely single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP), as instrumental variables. The reverse variance weighting method was used as the main method for MR analysis, MR Egger and MR-PRESO were used to detect level pleiotropy, and leave-one-out method was used for sensitivity analysis to ensure the robustness of the results. Results A total of 132 SNPs were included in the analysis. The results of the inverse variance weighted analysis showed that sunscreen/ultraviolet protection increased the incidence of DLBCL [odds ratio=2.439, 95% confidence interval (1.109, 5.362), P=0.027]. The heterogeneity test results showed that there was no heterogeneity in the causal relationship between sunscreen/ultraviolet protection and DLBCL (P>0.05). The results of the horizontal pleiotropy test showed that SNP did not exhibit horizontal pleiotropy (P>0.05). The leave-one-out method showed that no SNP with a significant impact on the results was found. There was no causal relationship between sunscreen/ultraviolet protection and follicular lymphoma and T/NK cell lymphoma. Conclusion There is a positive causal relationship between sunscreen/ultraviolet protection and the incidence of DLBCL.

  • Analysis on the Situation of Occupational Exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens and Its Risk Factors in A Top-class Hospital in Sichuan Province

    ObjectiveTo know the status and risk factors of occupational exposure in a top-class hospital in Sichuan, and provide the basis for occupational safety and protective measures. Methods"Hospital Medical Staff Occupational Exposure Registration Form" was used in this retrospective study. Statistical analysis was performed on medical workers' exposure data between January 2011 and June 2014 in a top-class hospital in Sichuan Province. ResultsA total of 139 cases of occupational exposures were recorded in some of the medical staff. There were more females than males. Nurses had the most exposures (70.5%), and the exposure sources were mainly human immunodeficiency virus and hepatitis B virus (27.9% and 21.0%, respectively). The exposure type was mainly sharp injury (84.2%). Exposure occurred mainly in surgery (47.5%), and different job or places had different exposure types with significant differences (χ2=12.683, 20.897, P<0.05). Sharp injury was mainly caused by the scalp needle and syringe, and the injured sites were mainly upper limbs (98.3%). However, exposure to blood and body fluids occurred mainly on upper limbs (54.5%) or face (45.5%). ConclusionOccupational exposures are mainly sharp injuries, especially in surgeries. Women, nurses or medical staff with low qualifications had the highest exposure risk. Thus, occupational safety and protection training should be strengthened.

  • Estimation of Radiation Dose from Patients Undergoing 99mTc-Methoxy Isobutyl Isonitrile Myocardial Perfusion Imaging to the General Public and Nuclear Medicine Technicians

    ObjectiveTo estimate the radiation dose (RD) to the general public and nuclear medicine technicians from patients undergoing 99mTc-methoxy isobutyl isonitrile (MIBI) myocardial perfusion imaging. MethodsFrom January to June 2015, 55 patients including 30 males and 25 females aged between 25 and 87 years[averaging (63.6±15.1)years] ready to undergo myocardial perfusion scintigraphy with 99mTc-MIBI were prospectively recruited in this study. Approximately at hour 1.5 after injection of 99mTc-MIBI, whole-body dose-equivalent rate was measured with a radiation-survey meter at 0.3 meter and 1.0 meter from the patients. On the basis of human 99mTc-MIBI metabolic rate proposed by the International Commission of Radiological Protection and human social contact model proposed by the National Council on Radiation Protection and Measurements, the RDs to the general public from patients who had completed 99mTc-MIBI myocardial perfusion imaging and left nuclear medicine department were calculated. On the assumption that a nuclear medicine technician typically spent 5 minutes at a distance of 0.3 meter for positioning the patient, the technician's RD was also estimated. ResultsThe RD to a family member sleeping with the patient at night was predicted to be 42.88-160.55 μSv, to a family member contacting the patient at daytime 7.50-29.38 μSv, to a colleague 9.89-38.78 μSv and to a nearby passenger 124.48-466.06 μSv. The RD to a technician per 99mTc-MIBI myocardial perfusion imaging procedure was predicted to be 1.72-6.44 μSv. ConclusionThe predicted RDs to the general public and technicians from exposure of patients undergoing 99mTc-MIBI myocardial perfusion imaging are significantly lower than the regulatory dose limits.

  • The Present Situation and Influencing Factors of Protective Consciousness on Pulmonary Tuberculosis in Nurses

    ObjectiveTo be aware of the current situation of nurses' protective consciousness on pulmonary tuberculosis in one of the top hospitals, and to discuss its influencing factors, in order to provide references for better improving nurses' tuberculosis protection consciousness. MethodsBy using random sampling method, we selected the nurses who met the requirements to participate in the questionnaire investigation, between March and May 2014. According to the results, we evaluated their protective awareness on tuberculosis and its influencing factors. ResultsWe delivered 320 questionairs and took back 316. Nurses with different age, length of nursing work, professional rank, job title, educational background, and tuberculosis prevention knowledge training status had significantly different scores (P < 0.05). The multiple linear regression analysis was carried out with total scores of tuberculosis prevention knowledge as dependent variable, and age, professional rank, length of nursing work, educational background and tuberculosis prevention knowledge training as independent variable. The results showed that age, educational background, and tuberculosis prevention knowledge training were influencing factors of tuberculosis prevention knowledge scores (P < 0.05). ConclusionPulmonary tuberculosis prevention knowledge in nurses remains to be further promoted, and we should especially strengthen the prevention knowledge training for nurses with short working experience and low-degree education.
